２．自然から応用する
自然では耕耘（土を動かす）はほとんど行われません。
特に深耕はなおさらです。
モグラや虫などの小動物が、雑草の根によって行われると言いますが、
実際にはほとんどないと言って良いでしょう。
山の土壌では表層から、落ち葉、腐葉土、土となっているはずです。
この落ち葉と腐葉土、腐葉土と土の間がふかふかとして生物が多くいるようです。
このふかふかが良いものとして深く耕耘すればよいとの考えが蔓延しているようですが、山の土は掘ると非常に硬い事が多いです。
実際には土の固さより、空気が出入する、有機物の多い層が非常に重要で、その空気（特に酸素）により生物が活動できるのです。
上記を応用し、土作りを行っています。
堆肥も完熟ではありません。醗酵途中のにおうものです。
また、耕耘は５～１０センチ程度で表土と混ぜる程度の浅耕としています。
２～３日で臭いは消え、放線菌の仲間の菌糸の発生が見られます。
強い山土のにおいがしてきます。
堆肥を撒いてすぐに雨が降ると空気の流れが遮断されるため、失敗します。
